inZOI Sells 1 Million Copies in Week, Krafton Eyes Long-Term Franchise

May 23,25

Krafton's latest venture, inZOI, has stormed the gaming market by selling 1 million copies within just one week, marking the fastest sales milestone for any game published by the South Korean giant. Launched on PC via Steam in Early Access on March 28, inZOI quickly captured attention, though not without controversy. Early players discovered a glitch allowing them to run over and kill children, which Krafton promptly addressed as an "unintended bug" and patched out.

Despite this early hiccup, inZOI has garnered a 'very positive' user review rating on Steam. The game also achieved a peak of 175,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, securing the third spot in the Games category. Remarkably, it soared to the top of Steam's Global Top Sellers List by sales revenue a mere 40 minutes after its release.

The in-game user-generated content platform, Canvas, also saw phenomenal engagement, with over 1.2 million "participants" on launch day and more than 470,000 pieces of content uploaded.

IGN's Early Access review of inZOI gave it a 6/10, noting that while the game boasts impressive visuals and ambition, it lacks depth at this stage of its development.

Krafton credits its pre-launch promotional efforts and ongoing community engagement for building the trust and momentum that led to inZOI's successful launch. The company highlighted the inZOI global showcase and demo build as particularly effective in generating high interest. CEO CH Kim expressed gratitude for the global reception and affirmed Krafton's commitment to continued communication with players, aiming to establish inZOI as a long-term franchise IP.

Looking ahead, Krafton plans to roll out future updates that will introduce new content, including mod support and new cities. All updates and DLC will be free until the game's full release. In response to player feedback, Krafton has committed to applying quick fixes for reported issues through hotfixes throughout April. The company acknowledges the scale of inZOI's global community as a "next-level experience" and admits to navigating some "trial and error" in finding the best ways to communicate with players.
