Marvel Rivals game-breaking bug punishes players with low FPS

Jan 09,25

A Reddit user uncovered a game-breaking bug in Marvel Rivals that disproportionately affects players with less powerful computers. Low FPS (frames per second) causes several heroes to move slower and inflict reduced damage, effectively turning the game into a "pay-to-win" scenario where the cost of entry is upgraded PC hardware.

This is clearly a bug, not an intended game mechanic. However, a swift fix isn't likely. The root problem stems from the Delta Time parameter—a crucial element in game development that ensures consistent gameplay regardless of frame rate. Resolving this complex issue will require significant developer time and effort.

The following Marvel Rivals heroes are currently known to be affected:

  • Doctor Strange
  • Wolverine
  • Venom
  • Magik
  • Star-Lord

These characters exhibit reduced movement speed, lower jump heights, and decreased damage output. Other heroes may also be impacted. Until a patch is released, players are advised to prioritize increasing their FPS, even if it means compromising graphical settings.
