Many Marvel Rivals players are experiencing extended shader compilation times on launch, significantly delaying gameplay. This guide offers a solution to this common problem.

Addressing Slow Shader Compilation in Marvel Rivals

Game launches, especially online titles, often involve various processes. However, Marvel Rivals PC players are encountering unusually lengthy shader compilation times, sometimes lasting several minutes.

Shaders are crucial programs managing lighting and color in 3D environments. Incorrect shader installation can lead to various issues. While players may have correctly installed the game, slow shader compilation persists. Fortunately, a community-driven solution exists.

A Marvel Rivals subreddit user provided a fix that addresses this issue. The steps are as follows:

  1. Access your Nvidia Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to the global settings.
  3. Adjust the Shader Cache Size to a value less than or equal to your VRAM. Note: The available options are limited to 5GB, 10GB, and 100GB; select the closest option to your VRAM capacity.

This method has reportedly reduced shader compilation time to mere seconds and resolved "Out of VRAM memory" errors.

While this workaround is effective, players may prefer to await an official fix from NetEase. Currently, the developer hasn't publicly acknowledged the problem. To avoid extended loading times, however, this solution is recommended.

Marvel Rivals is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
