Insomniac Games Proposed Resistance 4, Approval Denied

There was a significant effort by the team at Insomniac Games to bring Resistance 4 to life, but unfortunately, the project did not receive the approval it needed to move forward. As Insomniac Games founder and outgoing president Ted Price steps into retirement after an impressive 30-year tenure, he has been sharing insights into his career, including unfulfilled projects. During a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Price was asked about a favorite game concept that never made it to production. His response was clear: "Resistance 4."

Price elaborated that the team at Insomniac pitched the concept, describing it as "a wonderful concept." However, due to timing and market opportunities, it didn't come to fruition. He expressed the team's passion for expanding the Resistance universe, noting that the series, set in an alternate history where aliens invade the UK in 1951, had established a fascinating backdrop with the Chimera. The potential for exploring their origins and future was something the team was eager to delve into.

The Resistance series, a set of first-person shooters developed by Insomniac following their work on the Ratchet and Clank franchise, consists of three titles released for the PlayStation 3. After the Resistance series, Insomniac shifted focus to other successful projects such as Marvel's Spider-Man and new entries in the Ratchet and Clank series.

Earlier this year, Ted Price announced his retirement from Insomniac Games, marking the end of over three decades with the company. He has appointed Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as Co-Studio Heads to lead the studio into its next chapter.

Insomniac's latest release, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, has recently become available on PC, and the studio is currently working on their next project, Marvel's Wolverine.
