Dec 30,25

Stellar Blade is officially getting a full-fledged sequel, developer Shift Up has revealed.

The action title, published by PlayStation, launched to impressive reception in April 2024, drawing praise for blending combat mechanics reminiscent of NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Korean studio Shift Up confirmed the sequel through a developmental roadmap included in today's financial results presentation, showcasing the company's upcoming projects.

According to presentation slides outlining Shift Up's franchise expansion strategy, the Stellar Blade sequel appears among projects planned for release before 2027. Before the follow-up arrives, the studio mentions a "platform expansion" - likely referring to the previously announced PC version launching June 11, 2025.

This development window also includes Project Witches, Shift Up's unannounced multiplatform action RPG currently shrouded in mystery.

The announcement follows recent reports of Shift Up collaborating with Sony to resolve a puzzling PC region-lock issue that made the game's Steam page unavailable in over 100 countries.

IGN's review captured the game's duality: "Stellar Blade delivers incredibly polished action combat that makes up for some narrative shortcomings. While its story and underdeveloped characters struggle to make an impact, and some RPG elements like repetitive backtracking quests fall flat, its combat system shines."

"The Sekiro-inspired swordplay creates intensely satisfying encounters against creatively grotesque enemies. Smart environmental design with rewarding exploration elements helps elevate the experience despite its flaws."
