Batman & Deadpool Unite in Epic DC-Marvel Crossover

Sep 23,25

The rivalry between Marvel and DC may be legendary, but these comic giants are temporarily setting aside their differences for their first crossover comics since 2003's JLA/Avengers. The unlikely duo chosen to usher in this new era? None other than Batman and Deadpool.

As revealed by Entertainment Weekly, Marvel and DC are collaborating on two special one-shot comics featuring Gotham's Dark Knight and the Merc With a Mouth. Marvel will publish Deadpool/Batman #1 by writer Zeb Wells (The Amazing Spider-Man) and artist Greg Capullo (Batman), while DC will release Batman/Deadpool #1 by legendary writer Grant Morrison (Batman) and artist Dan Mora (Superman/Batman: World's Finest). Both issues will include bonus stories pairing additional Marvel and DC characters.

This marks the first official Marvel/DC crossover in over twenty years (excluding Fortnite's Omniverse crossovers). The publishers first joined forces in 1976 with Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man, beginning a tradition of periodic crossovers.

"These collaborations occur about once per generation. The timing must feel right," explains DC's President and Publisher Jim Lee. "We want these moments to feel special. The creative alignment and business coordination between companies makes them complex, but when everything comes together, the result justifies the effort."

Regarding the choice of Batman and Deadpool, Marvel Entertainment President Dan Buckley cites the pairing's natural comedic potential: "It simply felt like the perfect odd couple. Deadpool's irreverence contrasting with Batman's seriousness creates endless possibilities for humor—with some inevitable ultra-violence thrown in. Our goal is to create exciting stories that celebrate comics and attract both new and returning readers."
