Wolcen Unveils "ExtrAction RPG" Project Pantheon

Feb 22,25

Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play action RPG incorporating extraction shooter mechanics. A closed alpha test begins January 25th in Europe, expanding to North America on February 1st.

Game director Andrei Cirkulete describes the game as a blend of "the tension and risk-reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of a combat RPG," hinting at influences from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. The team is keen to gather player feedback during the alpha.

Players assume the role of a Death messenger, striving to restore order to a ravaged world. Gameplay involves battling AI and other players across various maps. Successful evacuations preserve hard-earned trophies, while failed attempts result in complete loot loss.

The game offers extensive customization, including base building, equipment personalization, and diverse playstyles. The world is inspired by global mythologies, with player trading forming the core of the in-game economy.

The initial alpha will focus on the "Destiny's Edge" setting, drawing inspiration from Scandinavian folklore. Despite being in early alpha, the developers are committed to active community involvement to shape the game's development.
