Square Enix confirmed yesterday's indirect announcement about Kingdom Hearts 4 still being in development through a fresh social media post. Accompanied by visuals, this latest update removes any lingering doubts.

Yesterday, Square Enix announced the cancellation of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, its GPS-powered mobile action-RPG, but reassured fans it remains fully committed to Kingdom Hearts 4's development.

"We're diligently working on Kingdom Hearts 4 and remain fully dedicated to its development. Our goal is to deliver an experience worthy of your anticipation!" stated Square Enix alongside a montage featuring characters, cinematic glimpses, combat sequences, platforming elements, and formidable adversaries.

"Your enthusiasm hasn't gone unnoticed, and we're incredibly grateful," continued Square Enix. "We share your excitement and look forward to revealing more about Kingdom Hearts IV at the right moment. Thank you for your patience and continued support."

This marks the first substantial update about the sequel in months, following January's cryptic tease. Though initially showcased with a cinematic trailer in September 2022, development updates had been scarce until now.

Series director Tetsuya Nomura previously suggested Kingdom Hearts 4 will begin wrapping up the franchise's overarching narrative after 22 years and 18 games.

Regarding the canceled Missing-Link project, Square Enix apologized to awaiting fans but ultimately terminated development believing it couldn't "deliver a satisfactory long-term gaming experience."
