Fans of *The Last of Us* series are in for a treat as HBO's Season 2 will delve into content that was originally cut from *The Last of Us Part 2* video game. Showrunner and Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming season will revive "pretty brutal" scenes, including some of the Lost Levels that were partially restored in the PlayStation 5 remaster of the game. These levels include Jackson Party, The Hunt, and Seattle Sewers. While Jackson Party and The Hunt offer more serene settings with Ellie attending a party and tracking a bleeding boar, respectively, Seattle Sewers ramps up the tension as Ellie navigates through monster-infested tunnels beneath Seattle.

The inclusion of this intense cut content is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Druckmann expressed his excitement, stating, "It's pretty brutal, but I'm very excited for people to see it." He also hinted at the introduction of a "pretty prominent" character, previously only mentioned in the game, drawing parallels to the approach taken with Frank in Season 1.

Season 2 will introduce a host of new characters, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel, among others. However, the role of Catherine O'Hara remains a mystery, adding an extra layer of intrigue for fans. With the premiere of Episode 1 scheduled for April, viewers won't have to wait long to see these mysteries unfold. Yet, some questions may linger as HBO plans to extend the narrative of *The Last of Us Part 2* beyond a single season, unlike the first season which covered the entire original game.

Craig Mazin, the other showrunner, has noted that *The Last of Us Part 2* contains a significantly larger story, leading to the decision to structure Season 2 with a "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes. While Season 3 has not been officially greenlit, this approach suggests a thoughtful expansion of the series' universe.
