R.E.P.O Console Release Confirmed

*R.E.P.O.*, the co-op horror game that launched in February, has captured the attention of gamers, boasting over 200,000 players on PC. However, fans eager to experience *R.E.P.O.* on consoles might be disappointed. As of now, there are no plans for a console release, and it may remain exclusive to PC indefinitely. The game's developer, semiwork, has not hinted at any intentions to port the game to consoles. Instead, they are focused on refining the game's multiplayer experience, which has encountered some challenges.

The primary hurdle semiwork faces is enhancing the multiplayer mechanics without making *R.E.P.O.* susceptible to cheating. "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that," the developer explained to PCGamer. This issue needs to be resolved before any consideration of a console version can be entertained.

While some PC-exclusive games like *Mouthwashing* have made the transition to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the porting process. Other similar titles, such as *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which also involve sneaking past monsters, have remained PC-only. Last year, the developers of *Content Warning* mentioned considering a console release but cited technical difficulties. Since then, there has been no further update on a potential console launch.

In summary, the prospects of *R.E.P.O.* coming to consoles are slim. The developer's current priority is to address the multiplayer challenges on the PC version, with no expressed interest in a console port.
