Top Picks: Biggest Games of Summer

Dec 10,25

The major summer gaming showcases have now concluded, giving us a clear view of the games we'll be playing over the next year. Throughout IGN's Summer of Gaming, we witnessed numerous exciting reveals—from the debut of Resident Evil Requiem at Summer Game Fest (arriving next February!) to the impressive Clockwork Revolution trailer during the Xbox Games Showcase (launch date TBA).

With over a dozen presentations in recent weeks, there was truly something for everyone. Fans of cozy games discovered charming titles in Wholesome Direct, grimdark enthusiasts were thrilled by Warhammer Skulls, and first-party loyalists were treated to deep dives from PlayStation's State of Play and the Xbox Games Showcase. Now that all the announcements are out, it's time for the tough part: ranking the biggest reveals.

We’ve selected the 25 most notable games of the season based on several factors—including trailer views, page visits, social media buzz, and team excitement—and organized them into a tier list. Where each of these 25 games lands is up to you. S-tier is reserved for the most anticipated titles, D-tier for those that appear less promising, with everything else falling somewhere in between.

Many of the 25 games have strong potential for S-tier. Resident Evil Requiem delivered the most-watched trailer of the season, and our hands-on preview confirms it's one to watch. Then there's Invincible VS, which looks like a fantastic tag-team fighter and a faithful adaptation of the beloved comic series. And let's not forget 007 First Light, which impressed with a cinematic debut trailer—but will its Bond-film flair be backed by compelling gameplay?

Other titles are trickier to rank. After years of anticipation, we finally saw Capcom’s Pragmata—but did it meet expectations? The Silent Hill remake announcement also sparked conversation. Though we haven't seen gameplay, it’s being developed by Bloober Team, who previously delivered a stellar Silent Hill 2 remake. And then there's Keeper, a sentient lighthouse simulator and Double Fine's long-awaited new project. Its debut trailer was intriguing, but held back some details. Where will these and other games rank? That’s for you to decide.
