First Mortal Kombat 1 T-1000 Gameplay Looks Straight Out of Terminator 2, and There's a Surprise Kameo DLC Character Coming Too
NetherRealm Studios Unveils Mortal Kombat 1's T-1000 Gameplay and Madam Bo as a Kameo Fighter
Get ready for some liquid metal mayhem! NetherRealm has dropped the first gameplay footage of the T-1000, the final DLC character for Mortal Kombat 1's Khaos Reigns expansion. The footage showcases a range of attacks reminiscent of the Terminator 2 classic, including the T-1000's signature morphing abilities and weaponry. His moveset blends elements reminiscent of Baraka and Kabal, culminating in a spectacular Fatality that reimagines the iconic Terminator 2 truck chase scene. Robert Patrick, the original T-1000 actor, provides both voice and likeness for the character, making his debut in a showdown against Johnny Cage.
Adding to the excitement, NetherRealm surprised fans by announcing Madam Bo as a new DLC Kameo fighter, launching alongside the T-1000. This fan-favorite character from the base game's story mode will offer unique support capabilities. A brief glimpse of her gameplay is included in the teaser, showcasing her assistance to the T-1000.
The T-1000 will be available March 18th for early access via the Khaos Reigns expansion, with general release on March 25th. Madam Bo arrives on March 18th as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners or as a separate purchase.
The addition of the T-1000 concludes the Khaos Reigns DLC roster, following the releases of Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian. Speculation continues regarding potential future DLC packs or a Kombat Pack 3, fueled by Warner Bros. Discovery's continued support for the Mortal Kombat franchise and NetherRealm's long-term commitment to Mortal Kombat 1.

While NetherRealm has confirmed its next project was decided upon three years ago, Ed Boon assures fans of continued support for Mortal Kombat 1. The anticipation remains high for the studio's next title, with many speculating it will be a new installment in the Injustice franchise, although this remains unconfirmed. The decision to prioritize another Mortal Kombat title over an Injustice game was influenced by factors including the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to a newer Unreal Engine. However, Boon has explicitly stated that the Injustice franchise is not closed off.
