How to Start "The Axe From the Lake"

To begin this quest, head to the Tachov tavern and chat with Zdeněk the Mouth. Ask him to share something interesting, and he'll reveal details about a legendary axe hidden within the lake, setting you on your adventure.

Finding the Axe

Before you set off, grab a spade. You'll need it later. Spades are commonly found in graveyards or can be purchased from general traders in settlements.

Head to the quest marker. It's a large area, so start at the pier overlooking the water. Follow the path north, past an undamaged tree (Henry will comment on it), and then to a large rock (another comment from Henry).

Continue along the path until you discover a gravesite near a tree. Dig it up to unearth a gemstone silver ring, five marigolds, and—most importantly—a broken axe.

Repairing the Axe

Take the broken axe to blacksmith Radovan in Tachov. He'll repair it for you, but you'll need a fastening material and 699.5 groschen. You can usually purchase the fastening material from Radovan as well.

Once repaired, the axe becomes the Adorned Axe. Return to Zdeněk to complete the quest and claim your reward—the Adorned Axe, ready for use in battle.
