YouTuber Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán William McLoughlin, recently shared his disappointment over the cancellation of a Soma animated show he had been working on for a year. In his video titled 'A Bad Month,' Jacksepticeye expressed his frustration and sadness about the project falling apart unexpectedly.

Soma, a critically acclaimed survival horror science fiction game developed by Frictional Games, was released in 2015. Jacksepticeye, a fan of the game, had been in discussions with the developers for a year to bring an animated adaptation to life. He was deeply passionate about the project, citing Soma as one of his top video games due to its compelling story.

In the video, Jacksepticeye explained that he had planned to showcase the entire game in one video but held off in anticipation of announcing the animated show. However, the project abruptly collapsed when an unnamed party decided to take the project in a "different direction," leaving Jacksepticeye "quite upset" and unwilling to delve into the specifics of what happened.

The cancellation of the Soma animated show significantly disrupted Jacksepticeye's plans for 2025. He had intended to focus his efforts on the project, which would have reduced his content uploads but provided a substantial creative outlet to share with his audience. The sudden change left him questioning his priorities and feeling frustrated about the time and effort invested without any tangible outcome.

Following Soma, Frictional Games released two more Amnesia titles: Amnesia: Rebirth in 2020 and Amnesia: The Bunker in 2023. In July 2023, Frictional's creative director Thomas Grip mentioned the company's intention to shift focus away from horror games to explore other emotional themes, aiming to provide players with immersive experiences beyond just horror.
