Insomniac Games has expressed a keen interest in expanding their portfolio into movies, with a particular focus on their flagship series, Ratchet and Clank. Schneider reminisced about the 2016 Ratchet and Clank film, stating, "I think back to the Ratchet and Clank film from several years ago. And we kind of got an early start on that. So, of course, we’re interested in that kind of thing. We love Ratchet and Clank in particular."

Despite the mixed reviews of the 2016 film, Insomniac's confidence in future adaptations has been bolstered by their acquisition by Sony in 2019. In a significant leadership change, Insomniac's founder and CEO, Ted Price, announced his retirement after an illustrious 30-year career. Price, who has been instrumental in developing iconic franchises like Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, and Marvel’s Spider-Man, shared, "I actually made this decision last year. The reins of the company will now be held by three seasoned Insomniac veterans: Ryan Schneider, Chad Dezern, and Jen Huang, who will serve as Co-Studio Heads. Price expressed his confidence in the new leadership, stating, "I believe strongly that for us to continue our success, we need leaders at the top who are intimately familiar with how we do things, leaders who have helped build our culture and our processes, and who have earned people’s trust."
