"Drive Cars with Eye Control: Open Drive Launches Early Access on Android"

May 20,25

Open Drive, a revolutionary racing game for mobile, is now available in early access on Android. Developed by SpecialEffect, a charity dedicated to enhancing gaming accessibility for physically disabled players, in collaboration with Sun & Moon Studios, Open Drive is a testament to inclusive gaming.

What’s the Game About?

Open Drive is designed with inclusivity at its core, allowing players to choose their preferred control method—be it touch, keyboard and mouse, switch access, or a controller. This game goes a step further by integrating mobile-specific eye control, a feature that lets players with physical challenges steer using an eye gaze camera, simply by looking left or right. This groundbreaking feature enhances accessibility across the game's four diverse open worlds: Stunt, Speed, Snow, and Meadow.

The gameplay in Open Drive is highly adaptable, catering to both casual and competitive players. You can leisurely drive and collect orbs or aim for high scores by executing daring jumps with vehicles like the Roadster, Trickster, or Speedster. The game also allows you to adjust the speed to your preference, making it a versatile experience for all players. Check out the early access announcement trailers for Open Drive below:

Open Drive Is Now Out in Early Access

Currently available on Android in early access, Open Drive intelligently auto-detects and adapts to your chosen control method, ensuring a seamless experience. Switch Access on Android is fully supported, and each input method has tailored setups. For touch controls, you can choose between 'Precise' and 'Classic' modes, enabling directional control with simple taps.

Although the eye control feature is not fully implemented yet, it is expected to be available when the full version launches later this summer, free of charge. You can explore Open Drive now on the Google Play Store if it piques your interest.
