Dataminer Uncovers Hara-Kiri Animations in Mortal Kombat 1, Hints at Quitalities

A Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer has discovered strong evidence suggesting the brutal fighting game may introduce Hara-Kiri Fatalities as Quitalities.

Redditor InfiniteNightZ shared a video, below, showcasing what appear to be Hara-Kiri Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 1. Introduced in 2004’s Mortal Kombat: Deception, a Hara-Kiri finisher allows the defeated player to perform a self-inflicted Fatality.

Notably, InfiniteNightZ found Hara-Kiri animations for recently added DLC characters like Ghostface, fueling speculation that these may be included in a future update rather than discarded. “Seeing them added to the downloaded roster now makes it seem very likely,” InfiniteNightZ commented.

InfiniteNightZ also proposed that these Hara-Kiri animations might function as Quitalities, as indicated by their reference in the game’s code. Quitalities are swift finishers triggered when a player exits a multiplayer match, a feature seen in prior series entries. “They’re labeled as Quitalities, so there’s still hope,” InfiniteNightZ noted.

Prominent Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer Interloko later uncovered additional Hara-Kiri animations following InfiniteNightZ’s discovery.

Thanks @MatthewDim40523 for tag me
Here are another 2 missing from the video, so looks like only Omniman and Conan doesn't have one.

I didn't try to trigger it in the game because I'm bussy finishing some stuff of the demo of my own game https://t.co/TqBKyauY0G pic.twitter.com/hL4QzLRXwf

However, these findings may lead nowhere, as neither NetherRealm nor Warner Bros. Games has confirmed Quitalities for Mortal Kombat 1.

Mortal Kombat 1 recently saw renewed excitement with the addition of a hidden fight featuring Floyd, the pink ninja, and community efforts to unlock him. Fans also have the T-1000 guest character to anticipate, with more DLC potentially on the horizon, though NetherRealm has yet to confirm further details.
