Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially unveiled a new Avatar animated series: Avatar: Seven Havens. This exciting announcement coincides with the franchise's 20th anniversary, a celebration masterminded by original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

Avatar: Seven Havens, a 26-episode 2D animated series, will follow the journey of a young Earthbender, the next Avatar after Korra. The story unfolds in a world ravaged by a catastrophic event. This new Avatar, however, is not seen as a savior but rather a harbinger of destruction, hunted by both human and spirit forces. Forced to confront her mysterious origins alongside her long-lost twin, she must protect the Seven Havens before civilization crumbles.

In a joint statement, Konietzko and DiMartino expressed their astonishment at the franchise's enduring popularity, stating that they never envisioned expanding the Avatar universe to this extent. They described Seven Havens as a thrilling blend of fantasy, mystery, and captivating new characters.

The series will be divided into two 13-episode seasons, "Book 1" and "Book 2." DiMartino and Konietzko are co-creating the series alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. Casting details are yet to be revealed.

This marks the first major television series from Avatar Studios, who are also producing a feature-length animated film centered on Aang, slated for theatrical release on January 30, 2026. This film will depict an adult Aang embarking on a new adventure.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary, Avatar Studios has also unveiled a range of new merchandise, including books, comics, concerts, toys, and a Roblox game.
