Assassin's Creed Shadows' First DLC, "Claws of Awaji," Leaks on Steam

Details regarding the upcoming "Claws of Awaji" expansion for Assassin's Creed Shadows have seemingly leaked via a now-removed Steam update, according to Insider Gaming. This first DLC for the highly anticipated title adds significant content, including a new region to explore within feudal Japan, a fresh weapon type, expanded skillsets, new gear, and enhanced abilities. The leak suggests the expansion will provide over 10 hours of additional gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the "Claws of Awaji" DLC and a bonus mission.

This leak follows the recent delay of Assassin's Creed Shadows to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a November 15, 2024 release, the game was first pushed back to February 14, 2025, and then again to its current release date. Ubisoft cited the need for further polishing and refinement as the reason for the delays.

Assassin's Creed Shadows marks the franchise's debut in Japan, featuring dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been fraught with challenges, including negative feedback regarding character design and multiple delays. The game's launch coincides with a period of uncertainty for Ubisoft, amidst rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition.
