Assassin's Creed Shadows' Release Pushed Back to March 20, 2025

Ubisoft has announced another delay for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows, moving the release date from February 14, 2025, to March 20, 2025. This decision, the publisher explains, aims to further refine the game based on player feedback. The title was initially slated for a November 2024 release before the first postponement.

The initial delay, announced in late September 2024, shifted the launch from November 15, 2024, to February 14, 2025. Ubisoft cited the need for additional development time, later revealing concerns regarding historical and cultural accuracy within the game's development at Ubisoft Quebec.

This second delay, however, directly addresses player feedback. Marc-Alexis Coté, the game's vice president and executive producer, stated on the official Assassin's Creed website that Ubisoft is dedicated to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience shaped by ongoing player-developer communication. Both delays share a common goal: providing extra time to refine and polish the game.

Following the September announcement, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the game's first expansion to appease disappointed fans. While there's been no official word on similar compensation for this shorter delay, the five-week postponement is expected to generate less player backlash than the previous three-month delay.

This latest delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to enhance player focus and improve game quality. The company has faced financial challenges recently, including record losses in fiscal year 2023, despite remaining a major player in the gaming industry. Prioritizing player feedback through this delay could be a strategic move to address these concerns.
