AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT: Official Confirmation Announced

May 26,25

AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, building on the success of the RX 9070 XT released in March. Despite the excitement, Team Red has kept details about this mid-range graphics card under wraps.

The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT boasts 32 Compute Units and comes equipped with a substantial 16GB of GDDR6 memory, making it an attractive option for 1080p gaming. Given its compact design, the card is expected to consume significantly less power than the RX 9070 XT, with a Total Board Power (TBP) ranging from 150-182W. With half the Compute Units and power consumption of its predecessor, the RX 9060 XT will likely offer less performance but could be more budget-friendly. Unfortunately, AMD has not yet disclosed any pricing or release date information for this new GPU.

The Budget Battles Have Begun

While it's frustrating that AMD hasn't shared the price of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, it's expected to be competitively priced against the Intel Arc B580 and the recently released RTX 5060. These competing graphics cards have power budgets of 145W and 190W, respectively, and both were launched within the $250-$300 range. It's highly probable that AMD aims to target the same market segment.

This means that when the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT hits the market, gamers looking for a graphics card around $300 will have three viable options from different manufacturers. If the RX 9060 XT maintains this price point, it will stand out as the only GPU in its class with 16GB of VRAM, compared to 8GB from Nvidia and 12GB from Intel.

While I'll need to test it in the lab to assess its true performance, if the RX 9060 XT matches its competitors, its larger frame buffer could provide a longer lifespan as games become more demanding on video memory. The final pricing of the RX 9060 XT remains to be seen, but it's shaping up to be a compelling budget GPU to keep an eye on.
