Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has unveiled the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual event, and the first Xbox game showcase of the new year. The event follows the successful 2023 and 2024 iterations, solidifying its place as a key part of Microsoft's gaming announcements.

Initially rumored for January 9th, the official announcement confirms a January 23rd start time of 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. The showcase will be livestreamed on YouTube and Twitch.

Confirmed Games for Xbox Developer Direct 2025:

The event will feature at least three titles:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive (France), slated for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
  • Doom: The Dark Ages: From id Software, this title was initially announced in June 2024 and showcased at QuakeCon 2024. A mid-2025 launch is currently speculated.
  • South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game developed by Compulsion Games (Canada), known for Contrast and We Happy Few. Announced in June 2023, a release date is expected at the Developer Direct.

More Than Just Three Games?

Past Developer Directs have exceeded 40 minutes in length, showcasing multiple games. Given this precedent, the 2025 event likely holds further surprises beyond the confirmed titles. The 2024 showcase featured Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana, hinting at the potential for a similarly diverse lineup this year.
