"Xbox Game Pass: A Must-Have for RPG Fans"

May 25,25

For years, I was a dedicated PC gamer, swayed by the allure of frequent Steam sales, which kept me satisfied with a steady stream of new releases. Game Pass always seemed like a nice perk, but never quite compelling enough for me to subscribe—until yesterday, that is.

The unexpected release of *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* directly onto Game Pass by Bethesda and Virtuos was a game-changer. Though the news was not entirely a surprise, the immediate availability was thrilling. And if that wasn't enough, *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33* from Sandfall Interactive, a visually stunning JRPG debut inspired by the genre's classics, is set to hit Game Pass tomorrow. As an avid RPG fan, Microsoft, you've finally won me over.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Both Hit Game Pass This Week

*The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* was unveiled and released simultaneously on PC, consoles, and Game Pass on April 22. Like many, I spent the day downloading and the night immersing myself in its revamped world. Key features of this near-remake include updated character models, enhanced combat interactions, and polished visual effects. While more than five new voice actors were brought on board, Virtuos wisely preserved the charm of the original's quirky dialogue. The base edition of the remaster is priced at $49.99, encompassing both original DLCs, with a deluxe edition available for an additional $10.

Meanwhile, *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33*, the eagerly anticipated debut from French studio Sandfall Interactive, is set to launch at midnight PST tonight. With an impressive 92 rating on Metacritic and a glowing 9/10 review from IGN, which lauded its storytelling as "a true modern throwback," this game promises to be a standout. Its stylish UI echoes the Persona series, while the turn-based combat system showcased in early footage looks exceptionally innovative. The base edition matches the price of the Bethesda remaster at $49.99.

Although *Expedition 33* was poised to be the highlight of April's Game Pass offerings, the surprise launch of *Oblivion Remastered* has somewhat overshadowed its debut. However, from my perspective, having access to both these exceptional titles through Game Pass is a fantastic deal. Rather than shelling out $100 for two new games, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, the only real question is when I'll find time to step outside again.

Game Pass continues to expand its library with 2025's major titles, including *Blue Prince*, *South of Midnight*, and *Avowed*, alongside perennial favorites like *GTA V* and the entire *Call of Duty* series. It's clear that there's something for every type of gamer.

Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now

------------------------------------------------

Game Pass Ultimate, starting at $19.99 per month, offers access to the complete Game Pass library across consoles, PC, and cloud gaming. The PC-only Game Pass is more budget-friendly at $9.99 per month. The Standard and Core tiers, priced at $14.99 and $9.99 respectively, do not include day-one releases. The last price increase for Game Pass occurred in July 2024, and with these exciting game launches, further price adjustments may be on the horizon this year.

Although there are no current Game Pass deals, opting for a three-month subscription could shield you from upcoming price changes.
