Accessing Nightmare Crownless in Honkai: Star Rail's Wuthering Waves

Nightmare Crownless, a potent Nightmare version of the Overlord-class Echo in Honkai: Star Rail's Wuthering Waves, boasts increased Havoc and Basic Attack DMG. This guide details how to unlock it.

Obtaining Nightmare Crownless: A Step-by-Step Guide

Unlocking Nightmare Crownless requires completing the "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" quest and locating four Dream Patrols.

1. Completing "Ruins Where Shadows Roam"

This quest isn't initiated via an NPC; it's found within the Exploration Progress menu for the Penitent's End region in Rinascita. Access this menu by opening your map and selecting the compass icon in the upper-left corner.

2. Completing "Quest of Faith" (Recommended)

"Ruins Where Shadows Roam" is closely tied to the optional "Quest of Faith." This involves defeating four enemies in specific Penitent's End locations. Begin by interacting with the prompt near the circular arena beside the Resonance Beacon (located across the broken bridge in Wailing Ascent). This initiates a battle against a Questless Knight.

Defeating these knights requires strategic positioning. Lure them near lit Macabre Torches within the arena. Reignite extinguished torches by drawing Fae Ignis enemies towards them. Avoid using high-damage skills near torches to prevent accidental extinguishment.

3. Locating the Dream Patrols

After completing "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" (and optionally "Quest of Faith"), locate all four Dream Patrols in Penitent's End. While completing these patrols isn't mandatory for unlocking Nightmare Crownless, doing so provides additional resources and Monnaie. The image above shows their locations.

4. Finding Nightmare Crownless

Once all four Dream Patrols are located, Nightmare Crownless will appear on your map within the ruins north of Penitent's End.

Important Note on Enhanced Absorption Charges

Nightmare Echoes utilize Enhanced Absorption charges, boosting Echo drop rates. Players receive a limited number (15) per week. Plan your usage strategically if you're developing multiple characters.
