Dragon Quest 3 Remake: Conquer Xenlon and Unlock the Temple of Trials

Completing Dragon Quest 3 Remake's main story unlocks a wealth of post-game content. After defeating Zoma, return to the Dragon Queen's Castle and journey to Cloudsgate Citadel, a heavenly location above the starting map. Here lies Xenlon, a powerful boss whose defeat unlocks the secret Temple of Trials dungeon.

The Temple of Trials is accessible only through Xenlon's wish-granting ability. Defeating Xenlon repeatedly, each time within a progressively shorter turn limit, earns you wishes. This guide details reaching Xenlon and unlocking the Temple of Trials.

Reaching Xenlon

To reach Xenlon, follow these steps:

1. Travel through the previously explored dungeons: Maw of the Necrogond (B1 & B2), Orochi's Lair (B3), Pyramid (B4), Underground Lake (B5), Maw of the Necrogond (B6), and Manoza Jail Cells. This journey requires navigating these areas once again.
2. Defeat the boss troll in Manoza Castle. This victory opens Cloudsgate Citadel as a fast-travel location via Zoom/Chimera Wing.
3. Thoroughly explore Cloudsgate Citadel. Discover valuable items like the Heavenly Helm (for Warriors) and the second Sage's Stone (solved via the Bard's riddles).
4. Locate the red carpet in Cloudsgate Citadel's main chamber, leading south from the King's throne. Descend the stairs at the carpet's end.
5. In the next chamber, an old man offers a drink (its effects are unclear).
6. Proceed through the southwest door to Citadel Tower. This tower presents challenging enemies; aim for at least level 50 before facing Xenlon (level 58 is recommended).
7. Ascend the long stairway at the tower's peak to encounter Xenlon. Prepare consumables and items before the battle.

Unlocking the Temple of Trials

To receive your first wish from Xenlon, defeat him within 35 turns or less. Xenlon presents a list of five apparent wishes. However, a hidden sixth wish, accessible by selecting the blank space at the list's bottom, unlocks the Temple of Trials.

Xenlon will grant this unexpected wish. To enter the Temple of Trials, mount Ramia the Everbird on Aliahan Island and fly north. A bright light will appear, signaling the entrance. Interact with the "Enter" prompt to access the Temple of Trials.

The Temple of Trials is a five-section dungeon, each section presenting a unique trial with specific rules and rewards. Completing all five trials unlocks the final trial: a battle against the Grand Dragon.
