In the latest wave of "here comes a new remake" news—or if you're feeling more optimistic, "here comes another Stephen King movie"—a brand new adaptation of Cujo is set to sink its teeth into audiences. According to Deadline, Netflix is gearing up to produce a fresh film version of Stephen King's chilling tale, with Vertigo Entertainment's founder and producer Roy Lee attached to the project. However, it's still in its early stages, with no writers, directors, or cast members announced yet.

Originally published in 1981, King's novel was swiftly adapted into a 1983 cult classic horror movie by screenwriters Don Carlos Dunaway and Barbara Turner, and directed by Lewis Teague. The story centers on a determined mother, portrayed by Dee Wallace, who will stop at nothing to protect her young son from a rabid dog. Trapped in a car with a dead engine, they must battle for survival against Cujo, who, after being bitten by a rabid bat, transforms from a gentle pet into a relentless predator. As they face the threat of heatstroke and Cujo's menacing presence outside their vehicle, the stakes couldn't be higher.
