Stellar Blade Soars to New Heights, Breaking Sales Records and Conquering PC and PS5

Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, generating $151.4 million in revenue—a 30.4% year-on-year increase. This impressive figure includes a staggering $43.2 million in royalties from Stellar Blade alone.

According to Game World Observer's report on Shift Up's 2024 financial results, the success shows no signs of slowing. The company anticipates that PC sales of Stellar Blade will surpass those of the PlayStation 5 version, particularly within the lucrative Asian gaming market.

While a Stellar Blade sequel remains highly anticipated by fans, Shift Up's immediate focus is on Project Witches, a new title slated for a reveal in the first half of 2025. Project Witches was initially unveiled in 2024, shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, preempting the build-up of demand for a direct sequel. However, Shift Up has confirmed that the possibility of a future installment in the Stellar Blade franchise is under consideration.

Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG where players assume the role of Eve to fight off alien invaders and reclaim Earth, has already achieved significant success, selling over one million copies. While IGN awarded the game a 7/10 rating, praising its action elements, the review also noted shortcomings in character development, narrative, and certain RPG mechanics. The review stated, "Stellar Blade excels in key action game aspects, but underdeveloped characters, a weak storyline, and frustrating RPG mechanics prevent it from reaching the genre's peak."
