RuneScape Retires Decades-Old Easter Egg

Jan 10,26

RuneScape concludes its longest-running narrative with the release of "Eclipse of the Heart," the final chapter of the Desert Saga. This new quest is now available on Android and other platforms, bringing together decades of lore and ancient prophecies.

It began 24 years ago with the simple mission to rescue Prince Ali and evolved into an epic desert adventure. The saga now reaches its zenith with a climactic battle that will determine the world's destiny.

Story Overview: Eclipse of the Heart

Longtime players have traversed blistering dunes, uncovered buried secrets, awakened slumbering gods, and witnessed betrayals that altered Gielinor's balance of power.

As a celestial eclipse darkens the skies over Menaphos, the city quakes under the threat of Amascut, the Goddess of Destruction. The next chapter of the story rests in your hands, as it has many times before.

To start the "Eclipse of the Heart" quest, players must meet specific requirements. These include achieving level 90 in Necromancy, level 65 in Agility, completing the "Pharaoh's Folly" and "Do No Evil" quests, and constructing key structures as part of the Fort Forinthry storyline.

The quest begins in Menaphos, where Pharaoh Leela awaits to formulate a strategy to halt Amascut before she devours the souls beneath the city. Amascut herself is slated to arrive as a full boss encounter on August 4th.

Eclipse of the Heart Quest Rewards

Completing the quest grants a new player title and four Stone-Touched XP Lamps, each providing 250,000 experience points. Additional rewards include desert-themed cosmetics for your Lorehound, the Amascut's Eye skybox override, and an upgraded Magic Carpet Dust item.

In related news, RuneScape is conducting a major gameplay experiment from July 28th to September 30th. As part of the ongoing MTX experiment, "Cosmetic-Free Worlds" will be available, hiding visual effects like wardrobe overrides, teleport animations, pets, skilling icons, and hitsplats.

RuneScape is available for download on the Google Play Store. For more gaming updates, check out our next article on Shaved Ice Décor Pikmin in Pikmin Bloom.
