Starfield PS5 Release Speculation Grows After PlayStation Logo Spotted on Bethesda Site

Rumors of a Starfield PlayStation 5 release intensified over the weekend after fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda’s official Creations website.

The logo appeared on a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, though the Creation was later removed. Fans now speculate that Bethesda’s sci-fi game, previously exclusive to PC and Xbox, may soon launch on PS5.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

Speculation is mounting that Bethesda might pair a PS5 release with a major content update or new expansion. Starfield has faced criticism since the underwhelming Shattered Space expansion launched. Microsoft, Bethesda’s parent company, is expected to host a summer showcase this year, which could reveal more about Starfield’s future.

Bethesda has promised “exciting things” for Starfield in 2025, despite player frustration over limited updates and communication. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to Starfield, announcing at least one additional story expansion following Shattered Space. In an interview with YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard revealed plans for annual story expansions for “hopefully a very long time.”

Starfield debuted in September 2023 as Bethesda’s first new intellectual property in years and its first major single-player title since Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN’s Starfield review gave it a 7/10, noting: “Starfield faces challenges, but its vast roleplaying quests and solid combat create a compelling gravitational pull.”

In January, Microsoft gaming CEO Phil Spencer did not dismiss the possibility of Starfield on PS5. Reports as early as March 2024 suggested Starfield and MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were under consideration for PS5. Indiana Jones was later confirmed for PS5 with a spring 2025 release, shortly after its PC and Xbox debut. Starfield’s PS5 version remains unconfirmed, though Spencer’s comments hint at its likelihood.

Several Xbox titles, including Rare’s Sea of Thieves, Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush, and Obsidian’s Grounded and Pentiment, are already on PS5. Microsoft publishes Minecraft across multiple platforms, including PlayStation, and plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Playground’s Forza Horizon 5 is also slated for PS5. Reports even suggest Microsoft may bring Halo to PlayStation, ending decades of Xbox exclusivity.

Spencer has explained that Xbox’s multiplatform strategy aims to boost revenue for Microsoft’s gaming division, especially after its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

“We’re running a business,” Spencer stated in August last year. “Microsoft sets a high bar for our delivery, given the incredible support we receive. Our goal is to make our games and platforms—console, PC, and cloud—as strong as possible.”

Bethesda Game Studios, with 450 staff across five teams—Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile, and external partnerships—faces a demanding period ahead.
