Ubisoft has confirmed that Star Wars: Outlaws will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, though it won't be a launch title for the new handheld. Set to release on September 4, a few months after the Switch 2's debut on June 5, this space adventure game has already captured the attention of gamers across platforms.

For those who might have missed it on PS5, Xbox, and PC, Star Wars: Outlaws is positioned between the iconic events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The game follows the journey of Kay Vess, a small-time criminal marked for death by a powerful cartel. Our review gave it a solid 7, praising its "fun intergalactic heist adventure with great exploration," but also noting some drawbacks like "simple stealth, repetitive combat, and a few too many bugs at launch."

While Ubisoft remained tight-lipped about further details, they did confirm the game's availability on the Nintendo Switch 2 and its release date. This news is a welcome update to the Switch 2 Games List, especially amid the pre-order uncertainty affecting American and Canadian gamers due to new tariffs introduced by the Republican administration.

The announcement came during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where Ubisoft also unveiled details about the second story pack for Star Wars: Outlaws, titled A Pirate’s Fortune. In this add-on, players will see Kay Vess teaming up with Hondo Ohnaka to confront Stinger Tash, the leader of the Rokana Raiders. Star Wars: Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune is slated for release on May 15, adding more excitement to the game's expanding universe.
