Star Wars: New Character Unveiled in Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles
Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Adds Playable Jar Jar Binks and More!
Aspyr has unveiled a surprising new playable character for the upcoming re-release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles: Jar Jar Binks! A new trailer showcases the Gungan in action, wielding a large staff. This isn't the only addition; Aspyr has also revealed nine other new playable characters, with more to come.
The 2000 original Jedi Power Battles featured iconic characters and locations from The Phantom Menace. This updated version aims to recapture that nostalgia while adding fresh content. Alongside features like customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support, a roster expansion is a key element. Jar Jar Binks is the latest character revealed, his inclusion sure to spark debate among fans.
The trailer shows Jar Jar engaging enemies with his staff and his characteristically chaotic vocalizations. While some might have envisioned a more villainous "Darth Jar Jar" scenario, this version remains true to the original character's clumsy nature. Jar Jar Binks will be playable when Jedi Power Battles launches on January 23rd, and pre-orders are already open.
Newly Revealed Playable Characters:
- Jar Jar Binks
- Rodian
- Flame Droid
- Gungan Guard
- Destroyer Droid
- Ishi Tib
- Rifle Droid
- Staff Tusken Raider
- Weequay
- Mercenary
Aspyr is significantly expanding the playable character roster. The nine characters listed above join Jar Jar, with further additions anticipated. This diverse group includes familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, as well as various droid types. The Gungan Guard also joins Jar Jar as a playable Gungan.
With the release just weeks away, fans can soon experience these new characters firsthand. Aspyr's past successes with updated classics like Star Wars: Bounty Hunter offer hope for a truly satisfying and nostalgic Jedi Power Battles experience.
