This mission involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who needs help activating a second measuring device atop a silo. It's a relatively brief quest rewarding players with a Malachite pass for access to the STC Malachite facilities.

1. Initiating the "For Science!" Quest:

To begin, find Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Approaching the location triggers a radio conversation between Mongoose and Skif, prompting Skif to meet him. Inside the Central Elevator, go left past the conveyor belts, ascend the rusty stairs, vault the railing, and speak to Mongoose. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo. Accepting his request starts the "For Science!" mission.

2. Reaching the Silo's Summit:

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Dispatch any rodents encountered. A room with broken windows provides access to an external walkway and ladder leading to the silos. Equip your bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies along the way. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the second measuring device.

Activating the device attracts a Bloodsucker horde. Players can eliminate them or evade them to reach Mongoose.

3. The Confrontation with Mongoose:

Upon confronting Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward and depart. Neither choice significantly impacts the game's progression. Killing Mongoose allows looting the Malachite pass from his corpse; however, choosing the non-hostile option yields the Malachite Pass and additional coupons. The pass grants access to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through main missions.
