Squad Busters 2.0 Is Landing on Android Just Before Turning One!

May 13,25

Squad Busters is celebrating its first anniversary with the monumental update 2.0, set to launch on May 13th. Since its debut in 2024, the game has struggled to capture the massive audience Supercell hoped for. But with this significant update, could things finally shift in its favor?

This Isn’t Just a Tweak or Two

Squad Busters 2.0 isn't just a minor patch; it's a full-blown reboot. The gameplay mechanics, from how battles are conducted to how victories are achieved, are undergoing a complete transformation.

The most significant overhaul comes with the introduction of Heroes. Players will now select a Hero to lead their squad into battle. These Heroes are familiar faces from the existing roster, and if your chosen Hero falls, it's game over for you.

Combat mechanics are also seeing a major shift. Gone are the days of stopping to fight; now, you can attack while on the move. This change promises to make matches more dynamic, intense, and chaotic.

The conditions for victory have been revamped as well. Instead of needing to eliminate every opponent, you now only need to take down the enemy's Hero. Some players have noted that this change makes the game feel like a Brawl Stars spin-off with added complexity.

Squad Busters 2.0 Is Dumping a Lot of Old Features

In this update, several game modes are being removed, including Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, Epic Overload, Loot Machines, and Hatchling Herder. Additionally, some old skins and progression systems are being phased out. Supercell plans to compensate players with Hero Points and other items to ease the transition.

It's clear why Supercell is pushing these changes so quickly. Squad Busters has not yet reached the popularity levels of Clash of Clans or Brawl Stars.

With the 2.0 update and the first anniversary looming on May 29th, Supercell aims to rekindle player interest. They're also introducing daily piñata events to celebrate, which will offer opportunities to unlock a new Hero, Mortis.

You can download Squad Busters 2.0 from the Google Play Store and dive into the refreshed gameplay experience.
