Spider-Verse Producer Reveals Star Hasn't Begun Dialogue

Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed in an interview with Decider that he hasn't recorded any lines yet, and that many aspects of the film are still "being figured out."

This news shouldn't come as a complete surprise, considering a five-year gap separated the first and second films.

"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about production commencing. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things are being figured out, but good things."

53 ImagesWhile Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised to become a central antagonist in the third. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.

In this alternate reality, the radioactive spider bite intended for Miles shifted to the reality of the main protagonist, resulting in a drastically different outcome. Without the Spider-Man mantle, and following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, Miles's world fell under the control of supervillains, leading to his own descent into villainy.

The narrative implications of this alternate Miles's story, and its collision with the main Miles's journey, will undoubtedly be explored in Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans should prepare for a considerable wait, with Deadline suggesting a release date no earlier than 2026, or potentially as late as 2028 if the previous film's release schedule is maintained.
