Sony's popular PlayStation console themes for PS5 are disappearing! The limited-time PSOne, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes will be unavailable as of January 31, 2025. However, Sony has confirmed their return in the coming months, offering a glimmer of hope for nostalgic PS5 users who enjoyed the classic boot-up sounds and visuals.

In a recent tweet, Sony expressed gratitude for the overwhelmingly positive response to the themes, stating that they are working to bring these designs back.

Despite this good news, Sony has also announced that no further themes are planned for the PS5. This announcement has met with some fan disappointment, as themes were a staple feature in previous PlayStation generations.

The temporary themes, released to commemorate PlayStation's 30th anniversary on December 3, 2024, offered immersive nostalgia. Each theme recreated the aesthetic of its respective console generation, including iconic background imagery and signature sound effects. The PSOne theme featured the console itself, the PS2 its menu design, the PS3 its wave background, and the PS4 its characteristic wave patterns.
