Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions are teaming up for a big-screen adaptation of the hit video game, Helldivers 2. The exciting announcement was made at CES 2025 by PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash, who stated, "We're thrilled to announce the commencement of development on a film based on our incredibly popular Helldivers 2 game." While specifics are still under wraps, fans can anticipate spectacular space battles unfolding on the silver screen.

Helldivers 2, developed by Arrowhead Studios, is a captivating shooter reminiscent of the classic Starship Troopers. The game's phenomenal success is undeniable, achieving the status of PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling title, boasting 12 million copies sold within its first 12 weeks. Its popularity surged further with the Illuminate update, reintroducing a beloved enemy faction from the original Helldivers.

Adding to the excitement, a film adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn is also in the works, a collaboration between PlayStation Studios and Columbia Pictures – the studio behind the successful 2022 Uncharted movie. Qizilbash offered a sneak peek, promising, "We're in the early stages of the Horizon Zero Dawn movie, but we can assure audiences that this world and its characters will receive an unprecedented cinematic presentation."
