Will Wright, the visionary behind The Sims, recently unveiled more details about his new AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This highly anticipated title, initially announced in 2018, is finally taking shape, offering a unique gameplay experience centered around personal memories.

A Deep Dive into Interactive Memories

Developed by Gallium Studio, Proxi allows players to input their real-life memories as text, which the game then transforms into animated scenes. These scenes are fully customizable, letting players refine the visual representation of their memories using in-game assets. Each added memory, termed a "mem," enhances the game's AI and contributes to the player's "mind world"—a navigable 3D environment composed of hexagons.

As the mind world expands, so does its population of Proxies—digital representations of the player's friends and family. Memories can be arranged chronologically and linked to specific Proxies, creating a dynamic and interconnected narrative. Remarkably, these Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds, including Minecraft and Roblox!

Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on creating a deeply personal and engaging experience. He explained the game's design philosophy: "I found myself getting continuously closer and closer to the player. The more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it." This player-centric approach is what drives the innovative use of personal memories at the core of Proxi's gameplay.
