A Standalone Game That Can Be Enjoyed by Newcomers

Longtime fans of the Silent Hill series have been curious about where Silent Hill f fits within the timeline, but Konami officially confirmed on May 20 via a tweet on X (formerly Twitter) that it is a standalone game—meaning newcomers can dive in without prior knowledge of the series.

That said, the development team has included subtle nods to earlier entries in the franchise, as revealed during the March edition of the Silent Hill Transmission livestream. These references are designed to reward long-time fans while not detracting from the experience of new players.

While the original Silent Hill games were set in a mysterious American town during the 1990s, Silent Hill f takes place in 1960s Japan. Though the setting is notably different, Konami has assured fans that the signature psychological horror elements the series is known for will remain intact.
