In a recent interview with Collider, Mazin explained that attempting to wrap up the entire narrative within Season 3 would be impractical. He noted, "Season 3 would take forever" to complete the story, suggesting that even though Season 3 might be longer than Season 2, it would still not be enough. Mazin elaborated, "There’s no way to complete this narrative in a third season."
He expressed hope for the series' future, stating, "Hopefully, we’ll earn our keep enough to come back and finish it in a fourth. That’s the most likely outcome." This indicates a strong possibility that *The Last of Us* will indeed see a fourth season to properly conclude its storyline.
