Dismiss any doubts you might have—*Rune Slayer* is undeniably an MMORPG, and here's the irrefutable proof: it features fishing! Yes, you read that right. This guide will walk you through the surprisingly non-intuitive process of fishing in *Rune Slayer*. (Don't worry, we struggled with it too!)

Before you even think about reeling in a catch, you'll need to accept a quest from Simon the Fisherman (the friendly white-haired NPC near the pier where barracuda swim). He'll task you with catching five "fish" (we'll explain the quotes later). In return, he'll reward you with a handy Tackle Box.

To complete Simon's quest, you'll need a fishing rod and bait. Conveniently, Simon sells both. Grab a Wood Fishing Rod and at least five Worms (we recommend ten to be on the safe side). Here's the important part: you *don't* equip the bait. Simply keep the Worms in your inventory. Each time you catch something, a worm will be automatically consumed.

A crucial detail: you'll likely need *at least* five worms in your inventory to catch anything. We initially tried with only one and had no luck. Keeping your worms in your hotbar helps track your supply.

Select your Wood Fishing Rod (you don't equip it; just have it in your hotbar). Hold down M1 to cast your line into the water (the pier near Simon is a good spot). Watch your bobber. When it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch.

Important Note: This isn't foolproof. You'll often catch nothing, or sometimes, you'll catch junk. The good news is, Simon counts junk as a "fish" (hence the quotes earlier).

Simply cast, wait for the ripples, click M1 to reel, and repeat until you've caught five items—fish or otherwise. Once you've completed this task, return to Simon to finish the quest and receive your Tackle Box. Use the Tackle Box to store your remaining worms, freeing up valuable inventory space.
