According to journalist Jason Schreier, the acclaimed Rocksteady Studios is developing a new single-player Batman game. Details are currently limited; Schreier hasn't specified if it's a prequel, a sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely new story. However, one source suggests Rocksteady is creating a Batman Beyond game, transporting players to a futuristic Gotham City, with ambitions for a full trilogy. The game is anticipated for release on next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series was celebrated for its stunning visuals, and a futuristic Gotham setting could be Rocksteady's most visually impressive project yet. The Batman Beyond setting also cleverly addresses the challenge of replacing the voice of the late Kevin Conroy, potentially focusing on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne, similar to Warner Bros. Montreal's plans for the canceled Arkham Knight sequel.

Rocksteady's previous project, an online shooter, underperformed, leading to the cancellation of post-launch content within a year. A rushed animated conclusion retconned controversial plot points, revealing certain fallen heroes to be clones.

Now, Rocksteady returns to its strengths, creating a new solo Batman adventure. However, sources indicate the game is still several years from release.
