Rockstar Releases Anniversary Update for Bully After Six Years

May 03,25

Rockstar, the creators behind the iconic GTA series, have just released an Anniversary Edition update for Bully on mobile platforms. After a six-year hiatus, this update marks a significant moment for fans of the game. It's worth noting that this update is exclusive to mobile devices and hasn't been rolled out for console or PC users.

Rockstar Hasn’t Forgotten about Bullworth Academy!

The Bully: Anniversary Edition update brings new languages to the game and emphasizes stability enhancements and bug fixes. One notable change is the temporary disablement of Friends Challenges, which Rockstar plans to reintroduce in a future update.

For Android users with compatible devices, the update introduces Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO), enhancing the visual experience. Both Android and iOS platforms now feature an updated app icon and haptic feedback for a more immersive gameplay experience.

Several missions have been improved, including 'That Bitch', where players previously couldn't pick Mandy’s locker, and 'Weed Killer', which had progression issues if you broke the window prematurely. The 'The Rumble' mission also sees fixes for police cars that used to fall through the floor. Additionally, the update addresses issues where enemies wouldn't attack Jimmy, resulting in unbalanced fights, and resolves crashes that could occur when starting a new game or loading a save from the pause menu.

What Do Players Have to Say about Bully: Anniversary Edition?

The Bully community has long been vocal about their desire for a Bully 2, but Rockstar seems to prioritize other projects. Reports indicate that a sequel was in development during the 2010s but was abandoned in favor of Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online. With GTA 6 on the horizon, the prospects for Bully 2 seem slim, particularly as many original developers have moved on from Rockstar. While not a full remaster or sequel, this update offers a meaningful upgrade for mobile players.

For those unfamiliar with Bully, it's Rockstar's unique take on a schoolyard sandbox game where you play as Jimmy Hopkins, a rebellious 15-year-old navigating the challenges of Bullworth Academy. The game retains Rockstar's signature humor and open-world mischief.

You can experience Bully: Anniversary Edition on the Google Play Store for €7.99, and it supports full gamepad functionality.
