Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2 Coming to Switch 2 by 2025

Nov 15,25

A Nintendo Switch 2 port of Red Dead Redemption 2 may launch by late 2025, alongside rumored next-gen upgrades for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

According to GameReactor, sources "close to Rockstar" indicate both a Switch 2 version and a performance-enhancing patch for current-gen consoles are in development.

While specifics remain unclear, GameReactor suggests these releases could arrive as early as this year.

The report aligns with Nintenduo's separate claims that the Switch 2 port will launch within Take-Two's current fiscal year (ending March 2026). Whether this will be a digital-only release or include physical copies remains uncertain.

PlayWe hailed Red Dead Redemption 2 as a "masterpiece" in our 2018 review, awarding it a perfect 10/10. IGN's Red Dead Redemption 2 review praised it as "a meticulously crafted open-world ode to the outlaw era."

A Switch 2 port wouldn't be shocking given Take-Two's recent enthusiasm for Nintendo's upcoming console. During Take-Two's latest investor Q&A, CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed "great optimism" about the Switch 2 platform.

"We're releasing four titles for Nintendo Switch 2 - broader support than we've ever offered for a new Nintendo platform," Zelnick noted. "While third-party publishing on Nintendo platforms posed challenges historically, Nintendo has made significant improvements. We're committing accordingly."

Take-Two's confirmed Switch 2 lineup includes Civilization 7 (launching June 5), NBA 2K/WWE 2K titles (specifics TBD), and Borderlands 4 (September 12). While these continue existing Switch franchises, Zelnick's comments suggest potential for additional catalog titles - possibly including GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2 (though likely not GTA 6).
