Created by Hiroyuki Kotani (the mastermind behind Patapon) and featuring the musical talents of Kemmei Adachi (original Patapon composer), Ratatan's Kickstarter campaign, launched in 2023, has successfully reached its console launch stretch goal, securing its release on various platforms.

Closed Beta Commences February 27, 2025

According to the Kickstarter page, the Ratatan closed beta will begin on February 27, 2025. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared exciting updates on the game's progress, revealing over 100,000 Steam wishlists and positive reception to the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. While the game won't be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is prioritizing the closed beta, aiming for a polished demo for the June Steam Next Fest.

Sakajiri outlined the closed beta's scope: initially, players will access Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 added throughout the month-long testing period. He confirmed that beta code distribution details, along with the start date and time, will be announced via Discord and X (formerly Twitter) once finalized.

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A specific release date is yet to be announced.
