Want to conquer the mighty Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds without getting scorched or losing your prized meat? Don't worry, brave hunter, we've got you covered. In this guide, we'll delve into the Quematrice's weaknesses, effective strategies, attacks to dodge, and how to not only defeat but also capture this fiery beast.

How to Beat Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Weaknesses: Water
Resistances: N/A
Immunities: Sonic Bomb

The Quematrice resembles a colossal chicken, reminiscent of the mythical Cockatrice. Thankfully, it opts for fiery breath over petrification. As a mid-sized monster, it's vulnerable to most weapons, though its area-based attacks might make ranged weapons a safer choice for less experienced hunters.

Notable Attacks: The Quematrice's tail can deliver painful strikes and sweeps, with its tail slam being the most potent when you're positioned behind it. This attack involves the Quematrice lifting its tail high before slamming it down. Dodge or block to avoid damage. The real threat, however, lies in its fire-based attacks, which not only cause immediate damage but can also ignite you, leading to continuous health loss, and even set the ground ablaze.

These fire attacks are tricky to predict. The Quematrice may launch a frontal fire attack after rearing its head and roaring, followed by igniting a flame that it flings from its tail. It can also perform a full sweep after a similar roar, engulfing everything around it in flames. Additionally, during a charging attack, it may turn at the last moment to hurl fire at you. If you're fighting from a distance, start retreating as soon as you see these moves to evade the flames.

How to Capture Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing the Quematrice requires specific tools: a Shock Trap and a Pitfall Trap, along with at least two Tranq Bombs. While one trap is technically enough, having a backup is crucial in Monster Hunter games, especially if the monster flees or another creature triggers it.

Once the Quematrice is sufficiently weakened and limping, or if you notice the skull icon appearing intermittently on the mini-map, it's time to set your trap. Ideally, wait until the monster retreats to a new area after limping. Position your trap, lure the Quematrice into it, and then throw two Tranq Bombs to secure your capture.
