With 2025 kicking off already with a bevvy of events amongst numerous top releases, it seems only inevitable that one of 2024's most notable launches would get in on the action. And Pokémon TCG Pocket is certainly coming out of the gate hot with a new Wonder Pick event featuring fan favourite starter Pokémon Charmander and Squirtle!

For those not in the know about how Wonder Pick works, you get the chance to select one of five random cards featured in boosters that players across the world have opened. With this new event, you'll get not only bonus picks, but the chance to spend your Chansey pick to nab the two Pokémon featured in the event!

Charmander and Squirtle should need little introduction to longtime fans of Pokémon, as these two were some of the original starters you could pick in the very first entries in the series. So I've no doubt there are many of you hankering for the chance to get these!

For my two cents, I have always thought that it was a bit odd to translate the normal rules of a TCG into the digital world. After all, regardless of the usual collecting, trading and reselling activities, those who are just in it to collect can still hold and display their original cards. With digital, you simply can't, so I feel you might be losing something.

But at the same time, for those who just want to enjoy Pokémon in its original card-battling format, Pokémon TCG Pocket is inarguably the best possible way to do so. It offers all the mechanics, all the cards and all the excitement that you can carry with you and play whenever, without having to step into your local store.
