Pokemon Fan Creates Impressive Dragonite Cross-Stitch
A talented Pokemon fan has shared the Dragonite cross-stitch they just completed. The Pokemon needlework project took two months to bring to life, and its cute appearance and tidy execution are impressing fans.
Pokemon fans have all kinds of methods of celebrating their favorites. With so many Pokemon and so many Pokemon fans, it's natural for a wide variety of talents of many different creators to be utilized to put a focus on the monster catching franchise. This has led to a number of needlework projects over the years, with Pokemon crafters making all kinds of intriguing projects, including quilts, crochet Amigurumi, and cross-stitch projects like this one, to name just a few.
Pokemon fan sorryarisaurus shared their cross-stitch creation of Dragonite with the Pokemon community on Reddit. Fans in the comments have been quite receptive to the work. The photo shows an embroidery hoop with the Dragonite work in it, with a Dragonite Squishmallow behind it to provide scale. The Dragonite cross-stitch is incredibly clean, took over 12,000 stitches, and brings a reversed Pokemon Gold and Crystal sprite to life with excellent detail.
At this time, it remains to be seen if the artist will create any other Pokemon cross-stitch projects, though they already have a request. One fan asked for them to create a cross-stitch of "the cutest Pokemon" next, which they say is Spheal. While the artist hasn't promised anything, they did agree that it would be cute, especially since the rounded shape of the Spheal would be framed perfectly by the embroidery hoop.
Pokemon and Crafts Go Hand-in-Hand
Pokemon fans are always dreaming up new ways to celebrate their favorite Pokemon, sometimes combining their existing skills to do so. Many Pokemon fans have used 3D printers as a way to make new pieces of art, for example, while others have used their skills in metalworking, stained glass making, and resin to create stunning pieces celebrating their favorites or those of their clients.
Interestingly, Pokemon's original Game Boy platform was also home to an odd sewing tie-in that let users connect their Game Boy to select sewing machines and create actual stitching projects based on Mario and Kirby. While the program never really took off, especially outside of Japan, it's interesting to think that Pokemon could have been on that list if the strange collaboration had seen more success. If it had, needlework Pokemon projects like these may have seen even more popularity than they currently do.
