No Plans For Competitive Pocket

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

Currently, there are no plans for Pokémon TCG Pocket to join the ranks of Pokémon's competitive circuit. In an interview with VGC on February 25, 2025, The Pokémon Company’s Director of eSports, Chris Brown, confirmed that while they continuously explore new titles for the competitive scene, Pokémon TCG Pocket isn't slated for inclusion yet.

With a light-hearted remark, Brown mentioned "Pokémon Sleep is out there too," referencing the company's April Fool’s parody trailer for the Pokémon Sleep Champion Tournament. However, he clarified, "But at this time, there are no plans for Pokémon Pocket to join, though we’re always looking at things."

Too Early And Unbalanced

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

While no official reasons have been disclosed for Pokémon TCG Pocket's exclusion from competitive play, fans have their theories. The game, launched in October 2024, is still in its infancy, having only released two sets in four months.

Despite featuring competitive elements since its debut, the community has urged developers to address ongoing balancing issues. Pokémon TCG Pocket is designed as a more accessible version of the traditional Pokémon card game, focusing on a beginner-friendly experience rather than a competitive environment.

Meanwhile, the Pokémon Competitive Circuit continues to thrive with events across various titles such as Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and Pokémon Unite, all set to be showcased at the upcoming Pokémon World Championships in August 2025 in Anaheim, California.
