The Pokémon Company has revealed that Pokémon Legends: Z-A and its enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will launch globally on October 16, 2025, with preorders opening June 5.

A special Pokémon Presents showcase is scheduled for July 22, promising fresh updates from the Pokémon universe. New Mega Evolution merchandise has also debuted exclusively at the Pokémon Center.

Both digital and physical copy buyers of the Switch version can upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition for $10 via Nintendo eShop or My Nintendo Store, gaining enhanced visual fidelity and smoother performance.

Officials have unveiled the game's box art, depicting protagonists and their Pokémon engaging a Mega-Evolved creature during a nighttime battle in Lumiose City.

The official description states:

Pokémon Legends: Z-A revolutionizes the franchise with an RPG narrative confined to a single metropolis, introducing real-time battles and action elements never before seen. Trainers will embark on an unprecedented journey through Lumiose City, where human and Pokémon destinies intertwine.

A Mega Evolution celebration will feature themed merchandise and experiences throughout the year, including new apparel, accessories, and plush toys available at Pokémon Center.

Current limited-edition collectibles include oversized Mega Charizard X/Y pins and a capsule collection featuring designs of Mega Venusaur, Mega Gengar, and Mega Lucario.

Preorder bonuses at select regions' Pokémon Centers include a random Generation II/IV starter Pokémon plush from the Sitting Cuties line with qualifying purchases.

Originally teased in last year's Pokémon Presents with a futuristic Lumiose City trailer, subsequent Direct presentations have showcased expanded gameplay, new characters, and parkour-style rooftop traversal mechanics.
