Pokécology: An Official Encyclopedia For Pokémon Behaviors and Ecology

Launches in Japan in June 2025

The Pokémon Company, in partnership with the esteemed Japanese comic publisher Shogakukan, is set to unveil an authoritative guide on Pokémon behaviors and ecology. Shogakukan revealed on their website on April 21 that Pokécology will hit the shelves in Japan on June 18, 2025.

Pre-orders for this eagerly awaited book are now open at bookstores across Japan. Priced at 1,430 yen (tax included), as per Shogakukan’s announcement, this book is poised to become a must-have. While there's no word yet on a global release, given Pokémon's international fanbase, an English edition is highly anticipated.

Pokémon Ecology Encyclopedia

Pokécology promises an in-depth look at the ecology of Pokémon, offering a comprehensive analysis of these beloved creatures. The book will delve into their diet, sleep patterns, physical characteristics, and how they interact with their environment and other Pokémon.

This project is spearheaded by leading experts from the University of Tokyo, including veterinary behaviorists and ecology doctors. The esteemed ecologist Yoshinari Yonehara, who leads the study on wild Pokémon analysis, is listed as the book's official author. Accompanying the text are full-color illustrations by Chihiro Kino, renowned for her work in animal ecology books.

Pokémon has previously published numerous hardcover books detailing Pokémon stats, battle strategies, and game guides. However, Pokécology marks a pioneering venture into the biology and ecology of these creatures, offering fans, especially young readers, a deeper understanding of their favorite Pokémon.
